People from Culturally Diverse Backgrounds

The Northern Territory takes pride in its cultural diversity.

The Northern Territory Public Sector values multiculturalism and wants to benefit from our culturally diverse population by making sure everyone has fair and equitable access to jobs, training and promotions.

Multiculturalism is the way we address the challenges and opportunities of our cultural diversity. It means to respect and accept the right of all Australians to express and share their individual cultural heritage.

As a reflection of our culturally diverse population the NT Government will:

  • recognise the value of cultural and linguistic resources and skills of people as social and economic assets
  • provide fair and equitable access for all people in the workforce regardless of their background, while recognising the different needs arising from cultural and linguistic diversity
  • give all people the same rights, responsibilities and opportunities to fully participate in the workforce
  • respect the culture, language and spiritual beliefs of all people.
