Commissioner

ken simpsonMr Ken Simpson is the Northern Territory Commissioner for Public Employment.

Ken has had broad policy and operational experience in NT Government agencies since arriving in Darwin in 1976.

He has held senior positions in the Chief Minister's Department (Deputy Chief Executive), Department of Employment, Education and Training (Deputy Chief Executive and Acting Chief Executive), Department of Corporate and Information Services (Deputy Chief Executive), Department of Health (Assistant Secretary) and the then Department of Transport and Works (Director). Ken has also acted as the NT's Auditor-General.

In taking up the role of Commissioner for Public Employment Ken has acknowledged the solid foundation in the NTPS of good HR and IR systems. This provides a good base for the development of new and enhanced programs in areas like Indigenous Employment and Women in Management and Leadership.

The NTPS holds a dual responsibility; while its primary responsibility is to provide government services to the community of the NT and implement government policy decisions, it also has a unique responsibility to the community as the NT's largest employer.
