Reanna Browne, from the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment has taken out the Rising Star of the Year award in Australia’s premier human resources and people management awards.

The Australian Human Resources Institute’s (AHRI) National Awards program recognises outstanding individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence in contributions to their business, and to the HR profession.

Every year, individual awards for Human Resource (HR) leadership are given in the categories of:

Reanna was selected as the winner of her category by David Ulrich at the University of Michigan, ahead of three competitive finalists in the category (and the only finalist from the public sector).

Reanna has been in the Northern Territory Public Services for less than 3 years and has already helped to lead Human Resource initiatives in:

  • recruitment best practices
  • improving efforts to develop women in leadership positions
  • implementing and embedding innovation
  • establishing a community of practice for HR practitioners
  • reviewing flexible work practices
  • social media policies and
  • sector wide surveys.
