Project Employment Scheme

This Office works in partnership with Project Employment, a non-profit Commonwealth funded organisation that identifies employment opportunities for people who have an intellectual or learning disability.

Specific jobs are not targeted for this program.  It relies upon Agencies identifying duties considered suitable for a person with learning or intellectual disability and the required skill sets Project Employment attempt to match this information with the skills, abilities and interests of registered candidates.  Should a job match be made, the individual is employed under a temporary contract and provided with training and support by Project Employment for as long as required.

All agencies make an annual financial contribution to the Program by way of a levy. This Office administers the funds to meet salary costs.

Placements are on a temporary basis, for a maximum of two years to enable the employee to gain skills and experience. Agencies are encouraged to consider suitable candidates for permanent appointment during their placement.

The NTPS Project Employment Scheme is supported under Determination No. 18, 1994 Disability Employment Program.
