Getting information

Once you have selected a job vacancy you are interested in, you will need to get some important information from the Department of Corporate and Information Services (DCIS).

DCIS is a central agency which coordinates recruitment for Northern Territory Government agencies. DCIS organises job vacancy advertising and receives applications on behalf of agencies.

The information you will get from DCIS contains:

Calling the Fax back service

  •  When you call the faxback service you will be asked to enter the vacancy number and your fax number; or
  • to record your postal address on the message bank facility. The information will be automatically faxed or posted to you.

Visiting the DCIS Job Vacancy webpage

  • Click on the respective vacancy number in the listings on this page and you will be taken to a page with further details about the job and the agency. These details include a downloadable Word version information pack.

It is in your own interest to telephone the contact person listed on the flier to gain more information about the job and to answer any questions you may have about the nature of the vacancy. This may help you decide whether to apply for the job and which of your skills and experience to emphasize in your application. It is also a good way of introducing yourself to your prospective employer and expressing an interest in the job.

It will help your written application and your performance in the selection process to find out as much as you can about the job you are applying for and the work of the respective agency. Further information may be obtained by visiting the agency's website or by organising a visit to the agency and talking to the relevant contact officer.

To apply for a vacancy in the Northern Territory Government you need to submit a written application which addresses the selection criteria (found in the job description). For some help on how to do this go to How to Apply for a Vacancy.
