Redeployment

If and when an employee becomes potentially surplus to an agencies requirements, that is the employee is no longer substantially/nominally attached to a position, the person becomes an unattached officer within the agency and if no placement is obtained or found within a reasonable period, the person may be referred to the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment as a redeployee.

In May 2001, a major initiative was undertaken to address the sector-wide issue of redeployment. A Task Force was created to reduce the number of redeployees and to make recommendations regarding the future management of redeployment. This resulted in the Commissioner for Public Employment approving changes to some of the current practices used for managing redeployment.

This site provides information for Managers and for Employees about the Redeployment Process.  The Redeployment Procedures and the Award also outline the process for redeployment and redundancy within the NTPS.
